PROJECTS

A JEWEL FOR PEACE

A project for Il Nodo Cooperazione Internazionale with students from Italian schools and universities and the student-artisans of Bottega dell’Arte, the School of Social Design in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Born from an idea of mine, the “A Jewel for Peace” project from 2022 to 2026 involved Italian schools and universities: students and teachers from the Carlo Levi Art School in Matera; the Polytechnic University of Turin; the University of Perugia and the Vanvitelli University in Naples; the Academy of Arts and New Technologies (AANT) in Rome.

All the jewelries designed by the Italian students were made by the Phnom Penh student-artisans and were exhibited in Assisi – named The City of Peace – , and Milan.

A small contribution to the idea of peace, of a free world without borders, more equitable and supportive, values that young people embody.

From a fortunate encounter with Armando Milani, one of the most important iinternational figures in graphic design field, the iconic dove from his well-known poster “Translating war into peace” created in 2003 for the United Nations has become the project’s symbolic jewel.

WOMEN'S HANDS

I worked for three years with the Good Shepherd International Foundation Onlusto the project Networking Our Way Out of Poverty doing design training and product development with women in situations of social distress in Kenya, the Philippines and Thailand. I often photographed their hands, symbol of the dignity of their work, care, commitment and desire to have a better life. At the end of the project I wanted to convey the spirit of the project and the intensity of the experience, creating a photographic exhibition – Milan, 2014 – and a book.

LIQUID COLORS

“A photographic project made in 2011 at the Verrerie de Saint Just in Orleans, France, for Saint Gobain Glass. ‘The colors, wrote Ettore Sottsass, the idea of color always escape from all sides, run away in slow motion as the words, that always run away, like poetry that you can never hold in hands, like the beautiful stories … ‘

SKIN

Fragments of the infinite design of nature, macro photos of bark, knots and roots of the trees become a metaphor of transformation and stratification made by the flow of time to fully reveal the true identity and the essence of things and people. ‘… As the trees – as James Hillman writes- we become more irregular, more twisted, more intricate, like the wrinkles on our faces.
